Pat Wright Podiums at SSCU Hardriders
After cycling 783km over 6 days in Spain, Pat Wright didn’t waste any time in returning to competitive action by taking 3rd place in the SCCU hardriders TT, on his road bike!
“It was a fairly miserable, wet morning for the Southern Counties Cycling Union Hardriders TT.”, said Pat. “The course, which starts on the A25 before taking in 2 laps of the Bletchingley road race circuit, is challenging at the best of times. The conditions on the day meant that it was even less TT-bike friendly than normal and played into the hands of those on road bikes – such as myself.”
“My legs felt better than expected after our Spain training camp (we had arrived back the previous evening) and I felt fairly strong throughout my ride and paced myself pretty well. As I was the fourth rider off and the first finisher, I was technically in first place for a while until Will Hayter (London Dynamo) and then Steve Dennis (East Grinstead CC) both beat my time. I was fully expecting defending champion and last rider off, Steve Kane (Team ASL360) to do likewise but surprisingly he was some way off the pace and finished in fifth position, leaving me to claim third spot and another podium finish for Paceline.”
